The power division also issued an official notification of an additional surcharge. According to the notification, this surcharge will be collected from consumers from March to June 2023 and the total surcharge will increase to Rs 3.82 paise per unit.

Currently, electricity consumers are already paying a surcharge of 43 paise per unit. According to the notification, the surcharge will also be applicable to electricity consumers.

By June 2023, about 76 billion rupees will be collected from electricity consumers.
