Currently, users need an Android 4.1 or later operating system to use WhatsApp, but in the coming months, phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later will be introduced. This Android version was introduced in 2014 which means it is now 9 years old and surely very few phones are using it. This notification will tell you to update the Android operating system to use the app.   Android phones generally do not have the option to update the operating system, so such users will need to purchase new phones.
