A 150-year-old Stegosaurus dinosaur skeleton that is still intact has sold for a record-breaking $44.6 million.
According to foreign media reports, the 150-year-old skeleton of a Stegosaurus dinosaur, named 'Apex', which is still intact, was put up for auction by auction house Sotheby's on Wednesday.
According to Sotheby's, Apex, the most complete dinosaur fossil ever discovered, was valued at between $4 million and $6 million before the auction, but was bought for a record price well above the sale estimate.
According to media reports, this ancient structure was bought by hedge fund billionaire Kenneth Griffin for $44.6 million, breaking all previous records.
It should be noted that earlier in 2020, the auction of a skeleton of a dinosaur named Tyrannosaurus rex was the most expensive. It was auctioned for $31.8 million.
