Shaista Zaid, who joined Pakistan Television as an English newscaster in 1969, says that she got interested in newscasting after seeing a female newscaster, but it took a lot of effort to let go of her debating style. Didn't try to copy anyone's style.

Recently famous host Maneza Hashmi has shared an old and memorable interview of popular newscaster Shaista Zaid on her YouTube channel.

In the aforementioned memorable interview, Shaista Zaid opens up about joining PTV as an English newscaster, being associated with teaching and Radio Pakistan and then being diagnosed with cancer and her struggle with the disease.

During the interview, on a question of the host, Shaista Zaid said that after seeing a female newscaster, she became interested in newscasting, so she gave an audition.

He said that after being selected, he was given a week of training, after which he started reading only the news, but it took him a lot of time and effort to get rid of the debating style.

Referring to his newscasting experience, he also said that he never tried to copy anyone's style but sought help from the BBC to learn the pronunciation of English words but did not copy them, such as Most people do.

According to him, be it newscasting or any other field, everyone develops their own style after a certain period of time, it is not that you get your own style on the first day but when you keep doing one thing in your own way. It becomes your style.

In response to another question, she said that there was a time when she was diagnosed with cancer and was worried about the disease. When I think about it, I know that Allah has always been very kind to me and this illness is temporary, it is a test, so I have to face it with courage.
