Two US Navy personnel arrested for giving sensitive information to China
Two US Navy personnel were arrested on charges related to China and national security.
According to the American media, the American officer Jinchao Wei, stationed on the ship in San Diego, is accused of giving national defense information to the Chinese authorities.
Another official, Wenheng Zhao, was detained in Los Angeles on charges of conspiracy and accepting bribes from a Chinese official, US media said.
Matt Olson, the Justice Department's assistant attorney general for national security, told a news conference that China could use U.S. defense information to its advantage.
He said the two US officials had shared photos of the ships, personnel training and sensitive information on weapons systems.
